After 8 wonderful days reunited with my Gilma , after 2 pandemic years apart, thoughts turned once again to the footy. It was our last morning at our hotel before heading to Gilma’s home in Medellin, Colombia . We found a grassy space between the pool and the beach and invited a family splashing about in the pool to play .. Gilma did all the interpreting and before long we had a 4 v 4 going , first to three . It was fitting that this game involved a family as this part of the world is so family orientated ..extended families everywhere and beautiful to see so many of the younger generation taking care of their grandparents . Today Ariel Mojica and his extended family and friends from the Azuero region of Panama joined us . His son, also called Ariel , was hilarious ..growling out loud with frustration as his team struggled to keep Yatzhii, Artur and Juan Carlos out . Artur works as an activities chap at the hotel and was Mr Energy…quick across the ground with good close control . Ariel senior and junior plus Little Daniel and I tried everything but we couldn’t beat Juan Carlos “The Wall” Carvajal in the nets . To the sound of holiday beats blasting out from Arturs beach shack we played a funny, cracking game in the sea breeze . Our team lost 3-0 in the end . Lovely family game of footy.
